Casual Packer/Delivery Driver Required
Job Description
Are you an early riser looking for flexible work that fits around your life? Bellbird Baked Goods — one of Christchurch’s most loved artisan bakeries — is building a casual pool of reliable, energetic people to help us pack and deliver our products when we need an extra pair of hands.
This is casual, as-and-when-required work, covering staff absences and periods of higher demand. Shifts run either 4:30am–9:30am or 4:30am–12:00pm, meaning you’ll be done and dusted before most people have even had their lunch — leaving the rest of your day completely free. If you’re someone who thrives on early starts and loves having your afternoons to yourself, this could be a perfect fit.
This role could be a great fit if you are a student who does your best studying in the afternoon or evening, a parent who needs to be home for the school run, someone who likes to keep their afternoons free for sport, hobbies, or a second job, or simply an early bird who’d rather be up and earning than lying in.
Tasks & Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing:
- Packing bread and pastry orders accurately and with care
- Delivering to wholesale customers on time and in great condition
- Representing Bellbird professionally with customers — a friendly face on the road
- Keeping the van and packing area clean and ready for the next run
- Developing your knowledge of Bellbird’s products and sharing that with customers
Qualifications & Experience
What we’re looking for:
- You must have a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
- Physical fitness to lift and shift product safely and efficiently
- Genuine availability for early morning starts and the reliability to follow through
- A professional, friendly manner with customers
- Someone organised, efficient, and who takes pride in doing the job well
Because we rely on our casual team to step in at short notice, availability and reliability are everything. We need people who are ready to say yes when we call and who take pride in showing up and doing the job well. In return, you’ll have genuine flexibility — no late nights, no unpredictable finishes, and the satisfaction of knowing your morning’s work helped deliver some of the best baked goods in Christchurch.
You don’t have to have had experience as a delivery driver, but you absolutely need to be a team player and interested in what we do. We are looking for people who take pride in the work they do, and the service that they provide.
Full training will be provided alongside working alongside a team that genuinely cares about quality — from the bakers who make the product to the people who get it out the door. Staff discounts on exceptional baked goods included, of course.
To apply please send your CV and a brief cover letter to [email protected]. As part of your message, please reference which role you wish to be considered for as we can have more than one position available.
Evidence of your right to work in New Zealand is required.
