Christmas is over… now celebrate the Epiphanie with our Galette des Rois!
Every January 6 the festival of Epiphanie is celebrated in a few countries around the world, including France. In the Christian tradition, it commemorates the visit of the Three Kings to Baby Jesus.
In modern world this translates in sharing a Galette des Rois (King’s cake) with your family, friends and/or colleagues.
Traditionally, the Galette is made of two circles of puff pastry enclosing a frangipane (almond cream) filling. The baker hides a small porcelain figurine called a fève inside the cake. Whoever finds it in their slice is the king/queen for the day (and is expected to buy the next Galette des rois!).

Bellbird will be making Galettes des Rois all throughout January.
They will be available in store by the slice, sometimes featuring some seasonal fruit along the frangipane cream depending on what is available.
You can also order a whole traditional frangipane Galette to share with your family and friends. One galette can be shared among 6 to 8 people and comes with a couronne (paper crown).

Happy Epiphanie!
